Makers create hardware by transforming and repurposing ordinary objects into unique functional creations. Combining traditional crafting skills with, electronics, software and lots of creativity, what was once a disposable plastic plate becomes the medium for a vacuum formed chocolate mold. Or a paper straw and foam ear plug becomes a mini pneumatic rocket that can launch high into the air.
During the course, students will create numerous functional real world objects from everyday items by observing instructor demonstrations and applying what they have observed to successfully complete a project. Minimal direction is provided forcing students to work out for themselves the details of assembly. This necessitates that students closely observe the demonstrations and apply their own ingenuity to successfully complete the project.
